Non-camping Joshua Tree accommodation
December 14, 2009, 08:14:23 pm
Well it is looking like JT rather than Bishop in late Jan since there's snow...but Anne isn't too chuffed with the idea of camping at the Hidden Valley campground and would prefer a cottage/motel/something with hot running water and a proper loo. Any suggestions, please?

There are quite a few Motels and such in Joshua Tree/Yucca Valley.  Have no specific recommendations though.

29 Palms (place name) has tons of cheap accomodation. No idea of quality though.

The one I usually use is the High Desert Motel in Josha Tree, on the right as you head west out of town (you must haggle or they will overcharge a bit... typically ~$50 for room with microwave and fridge). JT has gear shops and better food (esp Crossroads and the Thai place) than 29 Palms. Music fans will be over the road getting the spooky vibes from Gram Parsons (JT Inn??). You can sometimes get great deals in self catering if there is a buch of you (search on google).
