Was wondering what was the trend of new software being so utter pants?
Nero 6 was great, they brought out 7 then 8, both of which I can't use and seems shit.
Same with windows, xp was and still is fantastic. Vista is a pile of useless crap.
Have just upgraded azureus to new vuze 4 and its another steaming pile of donkey turd.
Why is all the good software going down the plug hole?
Am I just stuck in my ways or is this a common theme with everyone else?

Yeah I got a new PC with Windows Vista and it would not run any of my old programmes eg. my camcorder tape converter CD. Also, my speakers from my old computer would not work on the new one so I will have to fork out for some new ones to get sound!    Bastards.

I am super anal and keep a copy of all the software installation files.  Thus when the latest copy is shit, I can revert to the old one.

But yes, I've noticed a lot of stuff is getting worse.
Exceptions?  Premier Pro CS3 can run HD and is still great like 7.0 was.  Err, that's it I think.

The new office is amazingly annoying. 

Jim I had the same problem with Azureus after I did a fresh install and I ended up with a spammy graphical interface!  I found the older version somewhere on the net (probably their homepage as I'm a genius) but now I get asked to update everytime I use it ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

The latest versions of office prompted me to get rid of most of it. I still use word but nothing else.

Not sure what's wrong with Azureus, can't see any difference between it and the last few versions. Dylan, the spammy interface is easily got rid of, do not despair!
It's a good idea to keep up to date with the latest version of something like Azureus as many members only bittorrent trackers will ban you for not having an up to date version.

Nero suffers from incredible bloat but the burning rom bit still works ok for me.

I'll never use Vista - probably go straight to Windows 7 assuming that's not such a disaster.

Azereus seems to have bloated. I have now switched to utorrent which seems much better.

I'd avoided this until recently when I was informed that all of the students at sheff uni would be using it from now on. Sh*t.

Have managed to find nero 8 micro which is just burning rom. shall use this from now on.
Also thanks for the tip on azureus Bubba, it was really starting to piss me off. Back to normal now.
I'm still using office 2003 as its much better IMHO.

Unfortunately most software vendors for M$ are stuck in the same business model ("lets add lots of pointless features that actually introduce more bugs and make it more unstable", or more cynically "I know somethings not broken, lets try and fix it so we can sell it again").  Compounded by the fact that software authors are screwed when the OS undergoes major revisions anyway (viz. shit not working under Vista).
