Pulley Scar Tissue
September 10, 2012, 06:56:28 pm
I injured my A2 in my middle finger about a year ago, it was only a minor injury so I was back climbing pretty quickly and all pain  was gone after about a month. Ever since it happened there has been a strange clicking sound from inside the finger (somewhere near the A2) when I bend it at the knuckle from straight to a 90 degree angle from my palm. Its not a movement I do very often even in climbing (it doesn't happen in any other movement). Think it could be scar tissue on the finger tendon rubbing on the A2 pullet tendon. Is there anyway to get rid of the scar tissue build up?

Thanks

SA Chris

Might be. Friction massage can allegedly reduce scar tissue

Mate of mine who had a horrible knee op used to get rid of scar tissue by rolling (quite hard) a beer bottle over the bits, you could hear it crunching away! He said it felt great, like scratching an itch - and this practice was reccomended by his surgeon...

Think I'll try massaging for a few weeks and see if it gets any better.

Sounds like it could be trigger finger - I doubt it's serious, just scar tissue catching as it moves through the joint. See a physio i f you're concerned.

Do you mean you get a clicking if you flex your MCPJs with your PIPJs and DIPJs extended?

EDIT:

Like this, which is a lumbrical related movement.

If it is a scar tissue problem then serrapeptase might be a useful option. You need to get a good quality source though - Dr Wongs is recommended.

Yeah moving from straight fingers to that position.
