Shef-Manchester communters
February 24, 2011, 09:04:25 pm
Heading to the big MCR tomorrow with lots of kids so hitting the train.  Is £16.50 the best price for an off peak return? Seems rather steep considering it's a 50min journey. Any tips on getting cheaper tickets?

Seems a lot to me as well - I'm off there on Saturday.

(I do know - now that it's far too late for either of us) discounts are available for those buying in advance...

It cost me 19.50 last week, still haven't recovered from the shock.

Rail prices are mental unelss you travel at antisocial times or buy ages in advance. We (family of 4) went Dore - Edale on a Saturday and it cost almost 20 nicker for the return tickets.... And the kids weren't actually that bothered about the train. We'll be driving next time.
