[u get points for each prob in a rather stupid way ie. a V8 could get 726 points, while another V8 which they think is a bit harder will get u 787 points.]

Yet another clear endorsement of the need for the V8+ grade surely!

There was a comp at Crookrise in the early nineties if I remember rightly. I think the BMC made some threats to those who entered including exclusion from the british team, but i could be wrong. I didn't go so can't really comment but a few friends did and had a good time i think. It seems a bit harsh on the crag to me though, with such a focus on certain problems, and the landings taking a beating. The location was kept top secret until the last minute when the calls went out, very rave stylee.

It was organised by Rad. I was out in France so missed it, but I would of gone if I'd been in the country. It wasn't a serious comp, more of an organised crag meet. I think Ben Moon won by miles (what a surprise!), but my mate Cooksey came 6th or 7th and was rather chuffed with himself.

I have mixed feelings about such things, but I could see it being done in a sensible and low impact way, which I wouldn't object to.

Entered the Castle Hill bouldering 'marathon' last year whilst over in NZ. About 150 probs(many easy with a few hard), 1 point per prob and 2 hours to do as many as you could. Great fun until the heavens opened, most of the probs had never been climbed before the comp. Sadly the UK doesn't have the requisit acreage of untouched boulder-field.

I am the worst competition climber in the world.  It's not that i don't like them, I just can't climb in them.  Each to there own I guess.  There is something to be said for a nice slopey piece of plastic sometimes, although I can't usually hold on to them!  rant rant.

Don't worry Chris, I bet none of those fuckers can break dance like you!

(I'm serious folks, he can actually breakdance - admittedly after at least half a bottle of the devil's own vodka.)
