Windiz update

My mate in jail is running Win2k Pro on an old and battered machine. His iPod has also decided to fuck itself after a month and he's had to try to install iTunes to try'n fix it. Unfortunately iTunes needs an updated windows component to be installed before it plays ball, so the question is: What are people using to update their microsoft OS's now that http://windizupdate.com/ seems to hyave gone belly up?

Gruff

ps. Any tips for reviving a month old iPod which is perpetually resetting itself would be appreciated!

A friend in jail advises you to get a copy of Windows XP Professional SP3 Student Edition. The student edition bypasses all WGA checks, etc and you can perform all updates as if it were a licenced copy.

You could try defragging your iPod - it helped mine stop doing random stuff.

He also fears he may have to upgrade his P4 +mobo to a Core 2 Duo beforehand...
No probs :) Also no need for that upgrade - my mate runs that version of XP on a really old Pentium with no probs...
