Officially news now as one of them has had a grade attached to it by Aiden.

UK has its first 9A. I guess that makes the other one as hard so another 9A.

i presume it will now pop up on all the climbing news channels now as there algorithms will spot it.

shootin' the shit / Re: Climbers recovering from covid

Thanks for all the responses. If I’m testing negative by Friday I’d go, but fully masked and away from everyone at the ceremony.

I think if I am still testing positive then I might just watch the live stream (or hang in the doorway of the chapel if that is an option). Or maybe even go after everyone has left to say a final goodbye. There are too many relatives there who have their own illnesses whom I would hate to infect.

It would be sad to miss it, but at the same time I got to say my goodbyes in private to him before and after he died. I wrote a mini Eulogy of everything I wanted him to know and made sure he knew it whilst he was around too.

I’ve been thinking for a while that I feel like I’ve already had my own ceremony for him, and that the real one is more for everyone else who didn’t get to see him, or were there throughout without the space to process (my step mum).

Let’s see what the next few days bring…

Same here, when I looked yesterday there didn’t seem to be anything contentious, unless we can vote not to receive the accounts until we get some better ones 😂

Just clicked on the link  to vote ahead of the AGM to be informed that voting has been suspended! Seems weird...

Yeah, I'd definitely consider masking up if you're going to be indoors with people while you might still be infectious. Then do as much outdoors as possible.

Though obviously as Sean says it's all miserable advice for a funeral.

Perhaps worth letting everyone know the score as some people may have underlying health conditions that you’re unaware of.

This. Let other people know so they can decide what risks to take.

I hope it all goes okay but remember that the most important thing is the time you spent with your dad before his death. Sounds like he got to live his last days absolutely on his own terms, and nothing can take that away. Even if the funeral can't be 100% perfect, there will be other chances to commemorate his life.

Or, to be fair, any of Meiville's other work that someone would highly recommend!

I've mainly been on a fantasy reading spree for the last few years starting with the Wheel of Time which is the best series of books I've read of any genre (and yes that includes LoTR).

I then read some China Mieville starting with The City and the City which was interesting but only ok, and then moved onto the Bas Lag trilogy, the first of which, Perdido Street Station, was disturbing but excellent and significantly (shockingly?) different to TC&TC! All of the books in this series were excellent.

I'm now approaching the end of the The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant having read the first three. I have found them challenging, particularly the first one and in almost every book I find myself getting frustrated with the main character but aways, without fail, by the time I get to the end, I'm quickly onto the next!

Will probably read the Last Chronicles next but am after recommendations on a similar vein for what to read next! Ideally by different authors to those listed above... Thanks!

Doxxing   no, was just jogging the memory but it's fine. Mods, take that reference out if Tony deems it poor show.

I didn't see an agenda in Sam's reply, just a bit of banter.

Either way, the finer details of the PNDP and PNDwhatever are probably lost on lot of us. FFS I couldn't even remember what "cragx" is.

You came across as a "man in the know" so I guess Sam thought you might be able to quickly give some additional insight into the process.

I'm still a loss as to where the additional funding might come from. Jamie's link gives some idea but

I'm only vaguely interested as it's a bridge I've never used, in a county I've never been to and not in a rush to visit, but it still would probably help people understand the process and, you know, maybe consider donating more...

Another thought - if you think there’s a chance you’re still infectious maybe wear a mask.
