Notes on Complexity is Ok, although at times it feels like the author is working in political metaphors to support his own belief systems. One of the strongest proponents of philosophical idealism is Bernardo Kastrup who’s book - why materialism is baloney, does a better job of explaining it. One of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in this field is Rupert Sheldrake’s ‘The Science Delusion’ where he describes looking for consciousness in the brain as akin to looking for a TV program in the back of the set.

Personally I’m a bit drained with the hard problem of consciousness exploration, lots of it seems to be about men trying to find and replicate ‘God’. Ray Kurzweil and Martine Rothblatt must be waiting with baited breath.

I prefer Roger Scruton’s analysis that whatever the answer is, it’s not to be found in words but in how we interface with the ‘world’ in a non symbolic and symbolic way.

lol, I care not about Trump, I do find it odious that people who have, IMO, behaved very badly over the past 4 years, think they're on the side of 'good', I'm not sure what 'dark road' you think I'm on that could get any darker than the recent fuckery. I'd be interested to see RFK Jr take power, his book 'The real Anthony Fauci' is a riveting read. wait for it..... MISINFORMATION!!!! 

Good lord, can you please either write in a straightforward manner that allows people to understand your point of view or just have a thread of your own and stop filling this one and the general election one with your tripe!!
I don’t mind reading points of view I disagree with but I really dislike posting obscure nonsense with allusions to complicated theories but no actual viewpoint elucidated.

If you have a point to make, just make it and stop trying to show clever and well read you are. It really doesn’t do you any credit.

lol, I care not about Trump, I do find it odious that people who have, IMO, behaved very badly over the past 4 years, think they're on the side of 'good', I'm not sure what 'dark road' you think I'm on that could get any darker than the recent fuckery. Hi Stone

I can kind of agree with you in principle that the UK should avoid interfering with other countries but with the specifics of Ukraine and Afghanistan I have issues. Firstly Ukraine seems a pretty clear case of a large aggressive neighbour interfering with a smaller neighbour and by allowing this to go unchecked I don’t see we make our part of the world safer. In fact I would argue that somewhere with Russia we need to draw a line and hold to it in order to discourage further aggression. Ukraine seems a good place to draw that line to me.

As to Afghanistan: hmmm my preference would not to have been involved in the first place. However once involved things become much more complex. Clearly we were never going to stay on our own once the US left but I think it is okay for Starmer to believe that it would have been better to leave a force of US and UK soldiers there for a long period in order to attempt to maintain stability and the rights of the population there. I don’t see that as being a “forever war” as you describe it but merely accepting that there are no good options once involved and we need to try to chose the least worst option. I also think the way the US went about leaving was dire and most commentators seem to think so. So I really struggle to understand your issue with Starmer here.
