Excellent. Don't expect much from the resorts though, they are pretty small. Treble Cone would be good on a powder day though.

Just bumping this in case Mr Panton is passing through. I think there’s probably just about enough info on UKC to find the Benllech stuff - one question : are Bae Huslan and Wal Huslan north or south of Leaning Wall? I’m guessing south, based on everything being left to right?

We have a golf estate.

Decent mpg, as boring as you'd expect a car to be, fits two snap wraps and a boss hog in the boot.

Had it for slightly over 7 years now. We've the 2 litre gtd version, only real complaint is that the ride is a little on the stiff side to cope with the state of the roads

This is the kinda forecast i like to see immediately before a trip  :great:

Intrigued to see what southern hemisphere snow has to offer and how the new stick likes it down there (doing a backcountry and avalanche course in Wanaka next week, with a days heliski booked for next Thurs to try and get the best out of all that fresh snow that's inbound)

Yeah, what i saw looked really good, been on my wishlist forever. We also went on a  walk to Fleswick Bay, which is a nice spot too, but it was seeping too much to have any more than a play on a few things. Lovely spot though. Will try and get back, we can get to Keswick in about 4:20, similar to Reiff and much easier driving.

Fultonius' advice is spot on I reckon. I looked at the same models and randomly ended up with a Subaru. I love it but it's got crap MPG, no better than the van. The newer ones might be better, so worth bearing in mind. Also really fun to drive.

Would be interested to hear how you get on because I found looking for estates quite challenging in my price range. Either really old or with absolutely monster mileage with little in between. Guess that suggests most people who get them stick with them!

Thanks for the info - my days of ragging it to the crag are long past so it sounds like a good option!

We did similar 2 years ago, switched van to estate. We had to get a euro 6 as we need to go into certain cities, so it was 2017 or newer.

We were mainly looking at focus estates, ocvatias, mondeos and out of the blue ended up with a Renault Megane Sports Tourer (estate) 1.5 DCi 130. While it is rated slightly less good than the others on reviews, we took it for a drive, it was the right price (bit cheaper than the other models) and it's been fine.

It drives well, pulls OK, servicing is quite cheaper. 53.4mpg long term (deffo not as good as claimed). One Ocun Paddy Dominator fits in the boot.Corners OK, but always gently hints that you'd be better off driving a bit slower...

Not a glowing review, but not a dog either....
