Since I would rather spend more time climbing and less time arranging for ongoing structural surveys and knotweed treatment I think it's back to the drawing board on house move! Think we will try to rent in the area and suss it out a bit before diving straight back in.

I know you can develop an emotional attachment to a house, but at the end of the day it's just a building, and you donlt want to end up with one that causes you stress and massive expenses. We bid on a few houses when we bought our first and were devastated when we didn't get them (Scottish system and Aberdeen house prices were silly back then), but looking back we got the place we wanted / needed in the end.

When I spoke to builders a few years ago about a potentially attractively priced underpinned property, they advised not to get involved with a house that has been underpinned on more than one side.

I'm interested in the logic behind this if you know it?

Keir Starmer declares he's a socialist but 'we can't afford to' raise taxes on the top 5% to pay for tuition fees etc. etc.  He has to be 'honest with the electorate'. 
Can't make this  up.

Socialism = expansion of the useless people under techno-feudalism

Humanitarian aid = forever war, resource stripping, globalisation etc

Health policy = making money from the misery of useless people

Etc etc

At last, a post with a reasoned view.

Cantankerous, in the argumentative sense, absolutely. (The “b*gger” bit, not so much.) As I wrote, that was the purpose of fora. Perhaps usage has changed. I’d argue - - I have been consistent in this throughout all my posts, not just recently.

Now completely off-topic the original topic: have you considered that my UKB profile may appear more argumentative than many since my posts are restricted to topics which are liable to give rise to strong emotions / polarised views? I don’t tend to post on topics on which there is broad consensus (with which I may agree). That may go some way to skewing the views some may have formed.

Regardless, I maintain that I do - in general - respond reasonably to polite arguments (which are posed as a view rather than a fact) and politely asked questions.
