Then to ruin it...i googled for pics of hot chics on bikes but then found this quite disturbing image:

Bubba, you been up to Glentress yet?
Where abouts is Mabie? I've always wanted to find some North Shore stuff to ride, but failed miserably. Although Chicksands (I think) looks worth a trip.
What do you reckon about Wharncliffe today? Bit wet?
Heres a pic of one of the lower sections.

Chilcotins are meant to be amazing (that sea is a river by the way).
Chilcotin, British Columbia apparently, but that's all it says.
exactly, its built for xc bikes and the tranny is massive although i did nearly clear it on a overly ethusiastic jump.
That's not him :)
Hardtail would be fine on that coz of the huge transition
I'm ashamed to say that conjured up quite a different image in my mind.....the tranny is massive although i did nearly clear it on a overly ethusiastic jump.

Horrific looking drop
Horrific looking dropBloody hell you practically need to circle the bike, its so far away :jaw:

I'm in yorkshire that weekend, otherwise i would have joined you, as I haven't been on it, but I could find out. Don't know of anyone who uses the uplift though.
I think if they've not been on the uplift then they're probably not doing DH - the hour long walk up would put most people off doing the DH runs there without uplift, though I'm sure there's some hardy souls who do it.
Has anyone seen the new Collective film "Seasons"? Any good? It's on at our local independant and be nice to see some great action on a big screen. Not bad, better than the usual thrash metal canadian offerings!
It's good but like Roam it's not as good at The Collective imho.
I think the full XC circuit still ends with the DH part, although I don't think they were doing the most gnarly sections of the DH tracks. Although I saw some photos of bleeding people, so they may well have. You're right, the XC loop ends on Caddon Bank but this just has smooth 3 to 4 ft drops which are easily ridden round to avoid. If you took an XC bike onto any of the tracks other than this one and Make or Brake then you'd probably destroy your bike and hurt yourself if you tried to ride them properly.
you boys do the top drop as well? bigger than this but you got to hit it a bit slower cos of the flat loose corner just below, though I did jump over Marcus on it as he was taking the chicken line at the time ;D ah memories memories :-[We all did the top drop - Luce and Matt did the bottom one but by the time I got there my front brake had lost all it's fluid so I didn't drop it - by that point I was just trying to get down the hill in one piece with only a rear brake which was enough entertainment in itself
that drop OK?Aye, it's only about 3ft so fine on the hardtail.
where's sheep skull boy?
where's sheep skull boy?
Doesn't sound like the kind of place to take a carbon fibre framed bike with untested pivots to me Cofe.
Successful trip?.
Was keen, but forecast for mountains was too good, so we got into Hell's Lum and did Clean Sweep. Too rooted yesterday to do anything.
I went over the bars and landed on a bar end again, this time directly onto my cock. It really hurt.
Bit small for 5ft 10" no?
Bit small for 5ft 10" no?
hmm, dunno.. seems to be a few folk about that height that ride em that size... i'm open to peeps coming round and having a bounce ;)

Nice light last night. Evenings are drawing in though!
although I wouldn't have thought your missus would be up for that yet? That's disgraceful Nic
that's lovely - where is it?
Boo to Howies overpriced, overmarketed, corporate sold out, nice kit.:agree:
Anyway, I can't afford their shit at them moment so it's all academic :)
I'll wait until I get a dry forecast then. Is there anywhere close to it with more freeridey/downhill stuff if i were to take my DH bike up as well? The idea being that i could do a day of each.
Cheers Chris.I've cycled past it, there are various routes down, you could probably do the easier bits on a hardtail, but loads of people were walking up with DH bikes. If you were going to 'tress with a hardtail I would recommend avoiding it though and hitting up the red trail for some fantastic fast flowing single track.
Anyone been to the Glentress freeride park?
If so, is it any good? More suited to a DH bike or hardtail?
I feel a trip coming on in the next week or so.
Looks like I'll end up taking both bikes if I aim to go to Mabie and Inners. Lots of potential for a good couple of days riding if its not too muddy.
Les Arcs has 2 distict types of riding; open rocky trails above the tree line and steeper tighter trails in the woods down to the valley.Les Arcs does look splendid for singletrack descending. Is there fully monty DH there too?
wtf, tlr with both wheels off the ground? surely a photoshop? ;)
Tir, in your pics from Yorskhire Dales there is evidence of some moto-cross riders, I Thought the Yorkshire Dales had banned such activities or is that just a rumour (I'm sure fatdoc mentioned it to me).

Even if it is banned, unfortunately some people won't respect it :(
I was going down the Stanage causeway at the weekend , and came accross a huge group of them - you go to the country for a bit of piece & quiet and then find aload of chavs tearing around, surely its time the Peaks followed the Dales.
Is Dalby any good? I've heard it's too flat and a bit shite.
Look at this crazy carbon/kevlar bike - $12,000 (ca) but apparantly not very good
Can I give something 6/5?
Idaho
jamaica? alaska. Iowa one.
That last one makes me feel sick. I hate cliff edges and can't ride a bike for shit. That picture's like my worst nightmare except it doesn't involve anything to do with Man United winning or Fiend lecturing on the reasons why V grades are superior.

the biker and people walking in the foreground aren't that far apart as they're relatively similar sizes, so given that, how could the cyclist, who's presumably travelling a little faster than those only slightly in the foreground who are on foot?I've tried to make sense of that but can't

i'd guess there are a couple of lights on the guy.
i know it's roadie, but it's very, very good.

It's good but like Roam it's not as good at The Collective imho.
Aye. The Collective was miles ahead of anything else at the time, then Roam was at a similar level. Good still, but no further giant step.
Fetteresso forest, near stonehaven. Loads of unofficial trails around the place, from technical single track to some big drops, log rides, see saws etc.
Haunted cottage round to the right. (SWB pic, not Golspie).
Did you boulder in the bay? Nice pics.
Red tyres AND wheel reflectors, omg :'(
How are you liking your Stumpy Adam? After initially not really liking mine that much at all we've now clicked and really enjoying it now.
You could beef up the tyres a bit but then pure XC would still suffer. Enduro can certainly take a lot of abuse. I'm confident my stumpy should be able to take most trail-centre abuse, especially now I'm a lot less fat :)

I need to have a ride of an enduro i think. Off to Afan valley next week so will have a go on my mates enduro.

I think i might break it if i carry on. May have to go down the enduro route. Then again, not sure about the extra weight. Its a tough one. Other than that, i love it. Might buy an enduro for the harder days, and keep the stumpy for the longer, more xc stuff off the man made trails. Did a 60k ride in Scotland this weekend, with a fair bit of road on it, i struggled on these sections.
Can't quite see the logic there? Surely the Enduro would be better for the tougher xc off road stuff and the Stumpy better for (smoother) trail centres and mileage?

Maybe change my big bulky tyres out for some smaller ones.I'm running:
Hike a bike, exposure, big mountains – all things we like. Harald Philipp and Martin Falkner head to the Ortler region, climb some big old mountains and ride some nice steep slopes. It’s beautifully shot and we particularly like the fact the pair of them ride with an espresso maker, gas stove, big lump of meat and some proper china cups for their coffee. That’s class.
Anyone remember Drop In TV?

You on the mend?Cheers for asking - 3rd week off work, can drive and hobble about now. Not sleeping much, hurts in the night but the healing is going better than expected. Another few weeks before I'm riding again though!

Good link Neil, I'd not seen that before - some stunning riding and video production. Inspiring stuff.

Whistler anyone?
You need to go at least once just to see if what they say is true ?
Speaking to a previous editor of climb mag recently he said it was the best place he'd been MTB ing say compared with the alps
I can't imagine it's as good as Rivelin valley.
Not MTB.
I think...

....unfair comparison. Where is?
God knows how he walked away.
Not really a very committing drop or anything.
Back to basics...

9 out of 10, just riding to the sea left.....
Twats.....Quote9 out of 10, just riding to the sea left.....
When they mean cross a mountain range, they mean something like the alps or pyranees, not the pennines :P
Would the Passporte count for that or is using lifts cheating
Bit of a shame they had to bulldoze a whole new road to get the shot but it is fantastic.Road?
Yeah, I meant the dirt track they used to get the panning shot...but on another viewing the actual jump track is much more noticeable anyway. I'm sure after a few months it'll all blend in nicely, I was just nitpicking really :)Yeah I thought something similar, the tracks do appear to rather blemish some beautiful scenery, guess its some private land in the US somewhere, still great vid though.
:great:
Hard to fully describe this, but in the middle tress closed out easy section, that's double black, I braked all the way down. Whilst being coached, took 8 mins at least, he did it in less than 3.
He got down the hill in 14. For me, 1;15 is quick. Yes... Really. I can ride double black Mtb.
Thought the perspective would help.
