So who's doing the calling anyway?

Or should we make a formula? Based on number of consecutive days of frost, no midgeness, less veg etc...? Mean temps below a threshold value for a number of days?

Its more fun to poke fun and ridicule at the poor individual given the task though...

Eh, have you just popped JB's resignation letter through his door?

Doh. Getting mixed up with the lime farces.

Missed last season entirely I think, but well psyched now! With any luck this time in 2 weeks I'll be in gritland (not in gritlad, that'd be wrong)

Again you seem confused. A Perfectly judged call from Haydn this year. The House of Lime is under good management.

As for the House of Grit...

FFS I think your board building has gone to your head. Warm and wet in Hathersage. There was a brief spell when the grit could have been called yesterday but the horned one came out, caught a glimpse of you screwing plywood panels to a 30 degree board and has fucked off in disgust.

As a fully paid up member of the Grit party I have lost all faith in your ability as leader, looking over your and Masons respective vimeo accounts I can see that the campusing skinny one has done over 167% more esoteric gritstone mantles than you this year. DM for the new caller.

Haydn did indeed to a good job this spring. However, The Lime calling is still under a cloud from  the legacy of Dobbins stewardship - followed by Barrows emigrating to Australia to escape the poisoned chalice.

Is there a vote for new leadership of the Grit Party then?

Given that monkey boy is the other side of the world then JB has to do it.

I can't believe this talk of a coup, brought about by Sharkskyist entrists to this great thread. JB is entirely suited for the job and anyone who says otherwise is a brown Crimp Budgie.

I stand with JB!

Calm down. It's only September. You've got another 3 weeks at least before JB's gonna stick his neck out, probably closer to 4.

Highest September temperature since 1911 as 34.4C recorded

Quote
The table below shows monthly the Central England Temperatures (CET) anomalies up to September 23rd. The important thing to note is that only April was colder than average and only by -0.4C. March was close to average with an anomaly of 0.1C but the other months have mostly been just over 1C warmer than average and currently September is a whopping 2.7C than the average.

No stirring from the box as yet. One of the five so far reported seen, though not by me.

Do you need to pay £25 for the privilege?

Since the fuck whenever has the grit / lime caller been decided by anything representing a democracy? FFS - what kind of equality drive bollocks is that suggestion?

What a mess. Last season was the worst for a while, September temps are well above average and I still have a project in Cheedale so I'm officially deferring to the Limestone. And Limestone means Limestone

A flock of geese just headed south over my house. Plus I'm thinking of getting a hat out. The signs are positive.

First Aurora sightings of the winter should be added to the list!

Southerners? I guess relatively speaking. Was spotted as far south as Whitby last night.

Am considering closing mine (London) soon. They've been open since May...

"connies are coming, connies are coming, connies are coming, it's finally getting colder."

Had this song in my head all week.

I won't tell you which infamous seasonal marketing campaign the tune is taken from.
