The fact that you can still go to Rylstone without getting frostbite is a good sign that it's not grit season!

Don't know about the grit but Helsby hilltop was unfalloffable this evening.  Not that cold but it felt like velcro!  Magical.

Evan Davis mentioned on the today programme that there is a day, every year when you need to start wearing a coat when you venture out of doors. He reckons that'll be the case from midnight tonight. Bodes well for the grit  :w00t:

See, all ye of little faith, might not be time for the call but it might be the time for the pre-call hysteria.

Pre-call hysteria is definitely upon us. And I f***ing love it  :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I think a call is merely hours away. We've had the initial panic after the first cold snap. Then the inevitable rising of the mercury. Now that the cold is back upon us the season must soon be here. I would even go so far as to guess that JB is at Khute now and the Calling will occur on his return...

I have stopped wearing shorts outside, but am not yet wearing a hat

There was a hint of scrittle in the air last night and there was a bit of friction showing around the edge of the stars in the eastern sky

I saw a gritter last night in Sheffield. Don't think it was spreading but it was on the move...

I'm in the south east and I swear I could hear it calling my name today.

I felt like I was standing in the plantation. The air had an unmistakable gritty quality to it.

Damn. I guess the real climbing season has nearly ended.

Still, could be worse:

I had a lovely day at Baslow today, but I would not say we're quite there yet. Let's see what if the crow rear it's ugly quail-head next week.

It's forecast to be 13 degrees this weekend and there's not even been a frost yet. Premature gritulation from the lot of you.  :chair:

12 degrees with a brisk north easterly and overcast, I think conditions will be more than adequate this weekend.

Brief dry spell at The Stride today.  Midges out in the cave area.
