Two sessions in the last two months? I doubt it.

There's a difference between Jim getting cold and the start of the grit season.

Perhaps Mr Footwork has lost his edge walking up those big hills in France this summer and it will be a few months before he can perform his Stanage party trick?

Why do we have two grit conditions threads?

And JB, why were you at Remergence? The smart money was on Burbage West. Got there about 6.30, left about 8ish. Not a single midge, but some nice cool crisp conditions!

what are the 5 requirments as we all know that the birth of a crow with the head of a quail has nothing to do with grit bouldering season?

Count me in on the calling.  Even had good conditions at Caley last weekend (very good in the shade, even I climbed well) and Thorn Crag the week before.  Not perfect but given that its about ten degrees cooler than it was a week ago, its gotta be called.  Come on, the summer's just a rest period ready for the main event...

The fifth requirement that I came up with was that JB emerges from hibernation but it could be something far more mundane.

Anyway it is not grit season - I failed on Strawberries again yesterday.

Last night was the best yet, but still just an hors d'oeuvre. Steady on.

Disgraceful. You wouldn't see such a lack of respect to the caller of the lime.  ;)

People seem to be confused here. You don't need the grit to be called to climb on it. But you may find you're swimming against the tide. Once the quail-headed crow has called, the tide will turn and its all downhill.

Its a late season, so far I'm waiting on 3 of the 5 conditions.

So that was you with the torch Dave? I went to west on tues, it was disappointing then.

Re the 5 conditions, Bonjoy's are close enough for you mortals. The real ones I'm sworn not to divulge unless via Red Roddy.

Do you still need to slaughter a white chicken under a full moon at midnight, then smear yourself with the blood and dance in a frenzy til dawn? Monday is full moon i think, like the classic Duran Duran song.

Virtually all of the people I climb with regularly have been back on the grit for the last month, and last night at Burbage West was the worst conditions I've had so far.

Well it felt good to me. Was the first time since April that I've climbed anything more than two moves, and not landed on the pad in a heap with all my tips spewing sweat. Maybe I'll wait til the grit is officially called before I get back on my projects.
