Monday is full moon i think, like the classic Duran Duran song.

At the risk of outing myself as having the worst music taste in the world, and also being the biggest pedant, wasn't it New Moon on Monday?

5 pages of tripe. The grit was first called around the turn of the 20th century, and it has been grit season ever since. Something this good can never have an off season. Unlike the lime...... ;)

Sorry to disappoint, but 'The Grit' was called 8 hours ago and counting.

When I first walked out the house this morning there was a good nip in the air, a strong breeze "surely it will be called" I thought to myself.
Man it was warm. Far too warm. There's often a chill in the air if you get up early enough in summer. I think JB has done the right thing in restraining from making the call. Obviously takes a man of that experience and calibre to not buckle under such pressure.

The tor's still dry, crag x is still dry and the undercuts in Tom's roof are still dry... Christ, even kilnsey's supposed to be still dry. No nasty grit just yet please.

But the best grit is on the way to or home from Kilnsey, can't people enjoy both in a day? - I reckon we should call this a dual year, conditions are mint on both rock types at different times of the same day.

Burbage North was a bit warm and midgey (not many) this afternoon. On the other hand; we have turned the central heating on for the first time this season and I have had two consecutive days on grit.

No, Kilnsey is still very dry. The grit can wait a while, the true mistress is still calling.
