Dear Dave,
I fancy a skinny little man with a funny northern accent who seems to be in some kind of position of authority at a local bouldering wall. My friends say that he is a minger, so I am reluctant to ask him out for a date or even to discuss my feelings with these friends. Should I try to start a secret affair with Graeme (I think this is his name) or listen to my friends.

Yours confused and lost

Dear Dave,

I understand that the Climbing Works are modelling their business development strategy very much on Tesco's strategy c1990s, opening new centres to the detriment of local well established climbing walls that have served their community over the last decade. First Sheffield, then Bristol, where does it end? soon they'll be opening in all the major cities and then where will we be? I know that they can offer a better quality of service, customer experience, product lines etc - but these commercial animals must be stopped.

The rest of us would vaguely like to know, but to be honest I'm amazed noones' even been fucked enough over it to punter you.

Anyway Dave has your Ice Hockey team just won something, and is it true you once solo'd Fear of Faust on Lundy?  Also how's you and the missus?

Also (for Graeme as well), what does competition climbing contribute to the rest of the climbing community?

No I was getting wasted at a friends house with some people who I suspect pissed fiend and co off in Font .

But I appreciate the mental image people now have of me as a slightly shady character, drinking alone, huddled over a pint that has long since gone flat, concentrating intently on a conversation somewhere else by subtly pointing an ear trumpet that away, but refusing to make eye contact.  Honestly I don't do that very often and I use a book (of a calibre of the type that I want people to think I read all the time) or a crossword as cover.

Was it my sister - she lives near the works.  Some people say she looks like me but I have longer hair and bigger tits.

That image was taking place in Sheffield though wasn't it?  I have that problem with a lot of Kelham Island's beers, and Ashton Brewery's.  Much as I like Moonshine I'll take the beer down here anyday, it's hoppier.  They don't grow many hops in yorkshire, do they?
