Font help URGENT
March 10, 2008, 07:07:15 pm
I had a trip planned to Font for the week commencing the 17th of March til the 24th. We were supposed to be staying with my other halfs uncle, but we have just got off the phone after discovering he is recovering at home after a stint in hospital. Basically, we can no longer stay with him.

With the trip being over Easter, I'm pretty certain we are not gonna be able to get accomodation anywhere else but was hoping some well seasoned visitors could suggest anythwhere? I've spoken to Neil H and Maisonbleau is booked.

There was supposed to be 4 adults, a 4 year old and a 1 year old going.

Any one have any miracle answers??

Mister Bed/Formule 1 in Nemours?

In times gone by, I have also stayed at the Hotel Salamandre in the centre of Font and the Station Hotel (I think) north of the town centre.

I've stayed at this place on more than one occasion.  Usually empty around this time of year, but have never actually stayed there for the easter weekend itself http://www.les-courtilles-du-lido.fr/.

Slightly different to when I used to stay there though as its now completely independent, whereas in the past when we stayed there it was run by KeyCamps, which doesn't seem to be the case.  Really like it, Moret Sur Loing is beautiful, and its dead easy to get to all the areas providing you have a car.  Various sizes of accomodation, mostly static caravans, but a few "chalet" type places (the later more likely to be fully booked).  Play parks for kids and a "crazy" golf course (well it was after a few 'shrooms!).

Cheers folks.

I'm clutching at straws to be honest. I have emailed the place you recommended Slack-line, cheers. Unfortunately they don't take reservations until the 22nd which is 2 days before we leave. We are getting there on the 17th and have found a great lookinf place to rent but it would be 250GBP and would only be for 5 nights. It is looking at becoming quite an expensive affair considering it was supposed to cost us nothing origanally!

Oh no Golt what a fucking nightmare!

Take it you've already tried Stef........

http://ukbouldering.com/board/index.php/topic,8532.0.html

If you go for the F1 option I can confirm that the rooms are fine for two adults and a travel cot. Bit of a squeeze but certainly doable. Wouldn't particlarly fancy stopping in one for a week and as Neil says you've gotta sort dinner (although you get a decent breakfast) but if it's your only option then go for it. Better than missing out on Font altogether!

Good luck.

Hi, Stef here from the link earlier posted.
Neil is right, both my 3 B&B and Gites are aloready booked at easter, like you say, certainly is the case of the "good & real" Font accomodations.
It then means that you could maybe try to find another place that will have to be at some distance of the forest.
Try the Gites de France for the department Loiret (45) that is just next door in fact, or Essonne (91) pretty close for some part of it.
Still, you can email the Reservation Office of our local agency on cueff@tourisme77.fr if there is something available for your demand, they will find it for you for sure.
Also you may try to get some B&B, that will cost you more but with some more value & services of course, as there might be a little less demand out there.
for our area, www.gites-seine-et-marne.com  -uk flag-B&B-select the area-keep positive !

Maybe next time, cheers, Stef.

Cheers for the help and advice folks, but the trip is officially cancelled  :(

We haven't got the time or money to sort anything out, so my first visit to the forest is postponed for about the 73rd time.

So, as a brilliant alternative, I get to redocrate the kitchen, paint the porch and sort the garden out. Great.

Have you not tried the gites de france site?  Surely you can find something w/ in reason?  Why not camp?  Seriously, babies are hardier than parents care to believe.

Golt, after all that excitement about the french uncle in Milly a while back I am sorry it didn't work out. But Font isn't going anywhere. I was going in May but new job means I am hoping for October, or March so I share your posponed pain. Either way it is worth the wait.

I'll jump on the gloating bandwagon too. I off in 2 weeks as well (but Jim's not paying as I've no idea who he is but he is welcome to pay if he wants to)

He also will be paying his previous debts off.
I am not paying for anyone else.

I will also be buying apricots and bottles of fanta with SF and dense's money  :kiss1:
