Tender bone on shoulder
February 29, 2008, 07:01:27 pm
Ok, so this is going to be hard to explain. It doesn't hurt when climbing but in each shoulder you have a bone that protrudes u ever so slightly, like a rounded ball. I think i heard somewhere it had tendon attached to it. Well, my left one has swollen up and is tender to touch, but doesn't hurt when climbing. Anyone had anything similar?

Sticky out bit at the tip of your shoulder?
Part of deltoid attaches there, as does a ligament or two.  If we're talking the same thing it's probably a bit of inflammation and should settle with rest, ice etc.
Draw an arrow on this pic to check:

Or a bloke if you prefer

That looks more like AC joint.  Probably just a sprain.
Same advice, so ignore me.
Ice it though.

I had a thing like that a while ago. I have quite prominant pointed top-of-shoulder-lumps and for a while one of them was fairly sore to touch. It was associated with some pain during climbing but I can't remember specifically what, as it was a few years ago. I went to a phys for a while and but I don't think it did much and then after a while the pain went away. At the time I was convinced that the pain was associated with one of the lumps being bigger than the other, but now I think they may allways have been like that. I put it down to one of those random injuries that kind of goes away after a while when you stop doing things that make it hurt.
Hmmmmm, I hope that rambling reply has proved usefull in some way, though I suspect it hasn't.
