Computer cleanup programmes?
February 16, 2008, 11:27:53 pm
My laptop seems to be riddled with pointless files that take up a shit load of memory. A mate of mine said to use something like PC doctor, or PC cleanup or something.

I seem to have loads of stuff like SQM files and other weird files I don't recognise. Do I need these? My programme files on my C Drive total 3.7gb, containg 28210 files in 2886 folders! Is this the norm.

Anyone got any recommendations?????

Well CCleaner seems pretty good and it's free. But I'm at the point of a complete wipe and start again. Still, it has been 3 years of inertia that got me this far. Get ccleaner from download.com or ccleaner.com It does look too good to be true but I've not had any trouble. Just be careful with the registry stuff. I'm assuming you run xp!

A waste of time IMHO. Fresh format and re-install everytime for me

If you've got the time Jim (fuck it off if you haven't)

But would you give a swift step-wise intro to doing what you posted above?
