Trumans Water UK Tour 2008

Perhaps some of you remember the Portland, Oregon band Trumans Water?

They caught my attention back in 1992 when John Peel played their debut LP Of Thick Tum in it's entirety on his R1 show.

They are really rather good, but they don't exactly play 8-bar blues.  They are quirky to say the least, definite one-offs.

UK Dates

30/01/08 : The Racehorse Pub - Northampton (UK)*
31/01/08 : Fibbers - York (UK)*
01/02/08 : Clwb Ifor Bach - Cardiff (UK)*
02/02/08 : Westhill Centre - Brighton (UK)*
03/02/08 : Mr. Wolf's Noodle Bar - Bristol (UK)*
04/02/08 : Barfly - Glasgow (UK)*
05/02/08 : The Cluny - Newcastle (UK)*
06/02/08 : 93 Feet East - London (UK)*

Hell I was gonna come back to the UK and work some but they play Hamburg on the 26th Feb.  There's no way I'll miss Trumans Water.

On a recommendation note:  I'd go for their 1st LP/CD Of Thick Tum.  If anyone owns a 1st pressing LP copy (these were handmade and coloured in w/crayons and bit's/bobs of whatever stuck on it; seemingly by retarded children - every copy was different) I'd like to buy it.

Used to rate Spasm Smash, their second album, very highly but lost it when some scumbag stole all my CDs. Was inspired to buy the album by a review which I still remember. Reviewer said that Truman's Water would be your favourite band if you thought Pavement were brilliant but would be even better with the addition of chicken noises and the sound of someone eating crisps.

I too owned Spasm Smash X X X ox ox ox & No Star.  I confess, it only ever baffled me.  Which is no bad thing at all.  Never owned any of the Godspeed . . .   releases, wish I did.

I think it was on the Of Thick Tum LP - there was a song called The Aroma of Gena Arnold which fascinated me.  I always wanted to know what Gina smelled like . . .

What an outrageously bizarre band they are.
