Lakes quick fix from M6
December 14, 2007, 11:07:43 am
Got to go down to wakefield for a funeral on Monday morning and thinking of making a quick stop at some bouldering on the way home (call me shallow if you will).

What lakes venues would be easiest to get to for an hour or two, based on distance from M6 and walk in. obviously nice if it's likely to be dry and offers a range from V1-V5 ish. Ta.

Dismissing Lancashire and Yorkshire outright, eh?
The South Lakes lime will be minging at present I expect.  Nothing else springs to mind that will be in condition, apart from Carrock.  Thorn may be worth the look but the walk in wil be your limiting factor.
All in all I suspect Carrock Fell will be our best option (other than Brownstones )

Mainly looking for somewhere to break journey, and if you stop in Yorks or Lancs you have barely started, plus pretty much done Yorkshire to death, looking for somewhere new.

True, let you off
Carrock would get you 3 hours into your trip too, and it's a nice serene place with some OK pubs nearby.

Was going to offer that one earlier but decided against it. It needed a lower man than me to offer it

Dense, you are a man of faith.  I wouldn't be confident that SG would be dry, it tends to dribble after such a long damp spell.  The boulders should be OK though.

Very amusing dense.

Got nowt done in the end. Too ill to do anything, plus didn't get away as early as we liked, so was almost dark by the time we got up there.
