i can't remember seeing a sign at the arncliffe cote end but thinking about it there was one at the street gate end and i can't think where else they could have come from if they were on that stretch.

Tir, in your pics from Yorskhire Dales there is evidence of some moto-cross riders, I Thought the Yorkshire Dales had banned such activities or is that just a rumour (I'm sure fatdoc mentioned it to me).

Even if it is banned, unfortunately some people won't respect it  :(

I was going down the Stanage causeway at the weekend , and came accross a huge group of them - you go to the country for a bit of piece & quiet and then find aload of chavs tearing around, surely its time the Peaks followed the Dales.

I heard the same (or similar) bunch from Count's Buttress on Saturday going up and down the Causeway all afternoon.  Unfortunately I think thats one of the few places they are "allowed" to drive up and down.  Hopefully the laying of gravel will have made it less challenging and they won't be bothered with it, I doubt it though

Is Dalby any good? I've heard it's too flat and a bit shite.

met some lads fron donny on sunday in the peak who were raving about it, easy climbs, real long sections of bermed and jumpable XC style fare...

well,
www.singletrackworld.com/article.php?sid=2067

there's 55 km of trails, the red / black look good, the freeride bit is a fair into the trails... which is a hastle if you want to go big biked and there seems a lot of wood / easy shore for me to fall off [i'm totally shite at shore]

one of the pics shows  a *floating log* drop which i'm sure i've seen face planted on youtube somewhere!

all in all looks a top place, damn sight more pleasant to drive to than llangela i'd assume...

my weekends are really looked up at the mo, but i'm keen to go there.

i've heard it's a bit of a mare if its wet though...

I might check it out when I get my wheel back - hardtail should be fine, it all looks piss. Anyway, after watching some of the outrageous hardtail downhilling going on at Cwmcarn I think i need to get better on old the arse-breaker.

Should probably check out Stainburn too.

Na, THIS is a gripping descent into a valley (5/5 fun & 4/5 technical on the NS scale)   :o

Also take note of the careful colour coordination of bike and clothing and the casual glance towards the descent.  She also appears to be wearing a marmot under her helmet  8)

I do have the full descent on helmet cam including a very good American rider nearly on-sighting it.  And a load of piccies.  I need to compress the video footage to put on the web or you can just borrow the dvd's!  I intend to do this over Christmas.  I just don't know which Christmas yet.

It might be a technical 5/5 since I've cleaned it a few times but what does that leave for harder technical grades?  Can I give something 6/5?  Hence I reckon 4/5 is the hardest I can ride technically.   :boohoo:

Yup. Beinn a Bhuird, I think. The circuit starts at Ballater. Having cycled in to do Mitre Ridge and Squareface, I can confirm it is a bloody long way.

the alps pics we're in the chamonix valley at a unheard of place called 'vallorcine' and one of the best tracks me and my mates have ever ridden, fast and wide open top section, schladming style mid section, then alpine cart track followed by champery style bottom section. there are a gizzalion better places to ride than les gets and morzine....lake garda, maribor, serfus, verbier, pila, les arcs. we're going to slovakia and hungary this summer....ta for the comment about the pics.
