Colour printers
October 28, 2007, 12:16:30 pm
Does anyone have any opinions on these, and if so what models should I be looking at.

I've had bad experiences with them in the past- cost, quality etc and think that repro would be a better way to go.

Any advise appreciated

what do you want it for?
If its for printing photo's only get one if your using it all the time, otherwise the jets get blocked

Get photos printed by a lab. Doing it yourself is a pain in the arse.

home printers aren't great. like jim says the jets get blocked and the cartridges aren't cheap for ones that will give you decent results. the cheaper cartridges are cheap for a reason.

if only getting 'snaps' done then i'd recommend photobox. decent 6x4s and 7x5s and very quick turnaround.

if after bigger or better quality then a pro lab, like peak imaging.

No it's not for photos.  More like letter heads etc

i use a big ass hp 2600 colour laser jet thing. i think it's a 2600 anyway. it does great flat colour, but printers (as in place down the road) are so cheap these days i would never get letterheads and such done in house. i don't quite get how this digital short run stuff works, but you can get colour printing done these days for a fraction of what it used to cost.

i got a cmyk invite done on a3 250gsm board for about £25 for 50 copies the other day...
