SIBL & baby veterans
October 26, 2007, 04:23:17 pm

I was told the other day that the vets category in this comp is from 35???
In which case how about an 'old gits' category. (I've just turned 50)?

Fair point.  haven't been for a few years as they seemed to turn into queuing competitions (victims of their own success I guess)

I thought it was 45. At least that seemed to be the consensus when discussing this on a mass old gits trip to Bleau last week.

I feel to get in a different category there should be some disadvantage relative to others in the competition.
No way is being 35 a disadvantage.I only really noticed bits starting to fail around forty.

in most other sports male vets start at 40.some sports give vet status to the girls at 35.

however you need things like grand vets and senior vets for those fools who think that they will eventually beat the opposition by just getting older.

Hey ,who you calling a fool? It's certainly the only way I am going to beat them.

Having said that I did get into the 'head to head' bit of a comp some years ago & at a crucial point someone in the audience shouted 'come on Smeag your chalkbags older than these guys!'. Very funny but didn't exactly help concentration.
