Go to chat from the top menu.

All chat is logged so play nice

Just realtime chat - talk bollocks. More useful than a forum if you want to quickly arrange a lift or groom an impressionable youngster

You can create temporary rooms where you can chat with other users away from the two permanent rooms.

UKB crashes IE at present, it's taken me ages to post this!!!!
I'm playing with settings at this end. Maybe I'm being paranoid but it was stable yesterday

It's Flash based so shouldn't cause problems if you can see places like youtube ok

BUT, bubs, does this change the *signiture* of the forum??, i dont know quite what i mean... but if work has a firewall (such as barracuda... a la NHS) will i now no longer be able to access the whole site from work??, chat is well banned you see...

tomorrow will no doubt tell...

Should be ok, because it's all done through the browser but you'll have to find out. I don't expect it to be a major part of the forum anyway, just a nice little sideline

Right, after removing IE then re-installing with the latest updates it works fine.
Ours is not to reason why.

Anybody really using the chat room? I haven't been in but I never see more than 2 in Chat Room on the home page "Who's online" bit.

Probably because the "chat" occurs in the forums!!

Apologies to anyone who has attempted to use the chatroom recently. It wasn't working and I wasn't aware that it was busted.

It is now re-instated using a different chat system.

I know it's not really used but it's there if you want it. You can create private chatrooms if you want to thrash something out with somebody and can't be arsed to fire up an instant messaging service.
