Handy running distance google map thingy
October 18, 2007, 10:24:10 am

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

I've recently started running again now that (fingers/legs/bollocks crossed) my plantar faciitis has finally fucked off. I found this site dead handy for working out just how far i've run around the local streets/parks/etc.

Start by putting in your postcode, then click "start recording" and then put in your waypoints one by one. You can do it pretty accurately.

I'm sure lots of serious runners have runners gps etc but for noobs like me this is pretty cool.

It also calculates a "calories burned" figure based upon your weight but i've no idea if this is in any way accurate.

Thats pretty handy, just confirmed that I ride a little over two miles to and from work each day (although I guess I could stop being a cheapskate and buy a computer for the bike, but its just something else that would need replacing should it get nicked).

and it will get nicked! I had the stem of a lollipop that flashed taped on to my stem as some pikey nicked my front light, then somebody even stole that outside the woodie one night!

Similar, but better in my opinion

www.sanoodi.com

allows you to save routes and also look at other peoples routes

very handy. good stuff this for keeping you moativated. I can't believe running for an hour only burns 800 calories? The pain you go through on rest day's to try to stay fit. harsh !

2 miles?! Talk about Slack. Cycled 12 miles to work today and going back later.

When I were a lad...

Say my name  :)

Bastard of a hill to ride up though (both ways, you can't escape them in Sheffield).

I dunno. 228m of ascent in 2miles isn't too small. Might upload a pic of the comedy bike later.

Personally I prefer:

http://www.walkjogrun.net/

Been using it for a while now, also features height gain.
