Henry Price Ultimate Wad - Was it you?
September 21, 2007, 12:51:00 am
I went down to Henry Price today (at Leeds uni for those not in the know) and saw a guy cycle up, have a bit of a snack and then jump on the far left traverse panel. I was reasonably impressed as he was warming upon one of the trickier panels. I was utterly gobsmacked when he traversed the whole thing (which, I hear is about Fr7c) and then reversed the WHOLE THING without steping off. Without a warm up.
If he posted on here I would give him a big fat wad point baby.

He said he was going to Wales on Saturday. If youre going there with him then you must be strong or prepare to be utterly burnt off.

There speak two men who know nothing of Henry Price. I would have been more impressed if he'd traversed and reversed the whole thing mind. Or climbed the final dome of the hyde park corner pub.

Nay people. On reading back my post it sounds like he just did the far left panel. Not so. He did the full length, every panel traverse from end to end and then reversed the thing in its entirety without stepping off once. This was without a proper warm up and only meagre stretches before hand. I heard the traverse was F7c or F7c+.Surely that would mean that the reverse as well would make it at least F8a due to doubling the length and therefore the endurance required?

I repeat, not warmed up.

8a warm up?  Sounds reasonable to me if you don't need your tendons.  Font 8a warm up would be noteworthy. ;)

Do I get a wad point?

I heard tell of a guy who did the entire thing without footholds, just smearing, 8b I was told...

I've got to the last 10m of that traverse from the beginning 4 times, not felt pumped, launched into the tricky moves and suddenly my body just stopped working...  :'(

This is truly amazing.  I've only ever seen one thing to compare with this that I can think of.
I once saw this guy at Brownstones.  He turned up on his bicycle, didn't bother changing into rock boots.  He wore those shoes that clip to the pedals.
Anyway, he walked over to Hank's Wall and did  it first go.  Then he reversed it,traversed and did Pigswill.  He then traversed the whole of the top end there and back before getting off and cycling away.

It wasn't until a few hours later that I realised he only had one arm and was blind.  I guess I should have realised when his Golden Retriever kept following him on problems.   :-\

Relax people, there's a rational explanation.  He's obviously ridden up hill and down dale to get there.  The punishing uphill sections will have warmed his aerobic system up a treat, warding off the dreaded flash pump.  And his stiff, poorly maintained, brakes will have acted as GripmastersTM warming up his fingers.

I'm just suprised he wasn't lapping it.

Thank fuck someone's cleared this up.

Purely and simply, footless ledge shuffling (heel also if you wanted too). If I remember rightly you can get some bridged rests between the ledge and the wall.

Man I miss that place!

Since they changed the doors, it's a grab-the-handle-and-bridge-out-to-the-big-foothold-on-the-other-side-of-the-door jobby. Easy.

Yeah, they re-did the inside last year, it's pretty nice now. There was talk of re-pointing the wall too, if they were going to it'd be a disaster but I don't think they will.
