Good effort Mr. Smith.  It's nice to see these lines getting more attention, looks a cracking venue.

Didn't he do True North earlier in the year as well?

Waddage galour for Malc!!

I have to say he is one of my main inspirations in the climbing world - legend!
I remember watching 'Stone Love' for the first time and seeing him tick off high 8's, one after the other and an 8b in 15 minutes if I'm not mistaken??

Indeed he did. After ripping a hold off (not sure if that was brute strength or a weak hold; probably the former) and glueing it back on.

News Flash: Malcolm returned on Wednesday of this week with Alan Cassidy. They both managed to quickly dispatch Bodyblow for the 2nd and 3rd ascents respectively. They have also confirmed the grade at a solid 8b+.  scottishclimbs.com

Malcolm Smith has repeated Dave MacLeod's Bodyswerve, confirming the F8c grade. Malc frustrated other hopeful repeat ascensionists by breaking a tiny fragment of the crux hold to make the route just that little bit harder. Fresh from his send Malc got psyched for some of the Anvil's remaining hard projects. After a very quick worked session, all the moves came together on a bouldery line right of Shadowlands. The Smiddy was promptly dispatched to give Scotland another F8b+.

"The Smithy at work on the Anvil"

A caption worthy of the tabloids.

Good effort.

Good effort by the lad. This guy's a one-man crag-destroying machine! Keep him away from grit pebbles.

No sooner had he repeated Devastation Generation, Scotland's first F8c, than another hard Scottish sport route has fallen to the resurgent Malcolm Smith. At the Anvil this weekend Malcolm made light work of Metalcore F8c+, after repeating Body Swerve and Body Blow (routes that it's based on) this summer. Only one question remains: will we see Scottish F9a before the year is out?
