Can anyone shed any light on how come boulderers from eastern Europe are so strong? I've never heard of any bouldering in Russia or the Ukraine. Do they have endless secret fields of boulders or do they just train savagely on plastic?

I imagine that quite a few of the top bouldering comp people are plastic specialists, but not sure about bouldering areas in Russia - i would reckon there's a shed load but they're just not very well known internationally.

What about the old gymnastics "training" technique where young russian gymasts as young as 14 would be made pregnant by their coaches and then forced to abort shortly before a competition.

Apparantly pregnancy increases muscle strength in  women. Lovely.
