It's on a completely different tip, but what the fuck, it's a new bike thread:

spent a chunk of my bonus early...

This year I will be mostly riding one of these.

 :) :) :)

In the summer, I like to destroy my spindly legs, to give my arms a rest from destroying them for the other 9 months of the years by scrambling around on rocks!

last october i went in my local bike shop to look at getting a new winter bike.came out with a bianchi 928L full carbon fibre jobby saved £600 on it though :-\ iv'e only dared ride it 3 times cos of the shitty weather.
got out last night for a ride after work on my other bike.managed to hit a pothole the size of a small swimming pool and puncture.only then to find my spare tubes had rotted in my saddle pack.thank fuck for mobile phones.

wow phil, seeing it in the dingy light of your cellar did not do it justice.
That is a nice looking machine!  Did they really need to make it so curvy or did they do it because it looks so good?

I havnt seen curves that good since...

apparently the curve in the top tube is to allow a bottle cage to fit in front of the quad link.  Still you're right.  Looks mint, though not a patch on the capri  :)

Nice seeing as someone started the topic for me...

Trying to branch out as purely distance running is starting to fuck me up.

So, does anyone have any good knowledge on triathlon bikes?  got prob 1-1.5k to spend.  Not sure whether to get a road bike which i can use to race on with aero bars or get a full on tri bike and just make do with the difficulties involved with training on it.  Obviously for now i don't want to fork out for 2 bikes but it'll probably happen eventually when i get bitten by the bug.

Have been recommended planet x in doncaster.  Anyone got any beta on them?

triathlon bikes by this i take it you mean a time trial bike low profile areo bars etc.great if you want to go fast on the flat not much fun if you want to pootle round the peak.when i did triathlon i used a road bike with areo bars but it was in the stone age.
my mate has a planet x bike reckons they are good value for money cycling weekly/cycling plus web site has download bike reviews.

JR, listen to webbo - go investigate planet x
You want one of these babys:

builds come out between £1000 - £1900 depending on how pimped you want it
or maybe this if you really want a TT bike:

complete between £1300 - £3000 (for the trick wheels you're looking at the 3k option) Awesome looking frame though. 10/10 from C+ mag.

Silly money I know, especially since they've taken a £1000 wheelset and then installed the front wheel the wrong way round!
