But why, monsieur FH??

Let me state the case for Flash:

  • Plugin is much smaller to download
  • 98% or thereabouts of browsers already have it installed anyway
  • Can do titles, etc much easier in Flash
  • Users can still save vids to their hard drives and view with a swf viewer
  • You can do much more in Flash than with QT, has much more possibilities for interactivity, etc
  • Flash has a proper IDE, QT doesn't
  • Errrrm... I like it!

So what you got a against it, you luddite?  :)

*and yeah, I know you can incorporate flash into qt, et vica versa.

That's a bit tight, the bastards! Have you tried downloading the plugin from macromedia.com?  I had poor access here until recently, but I could still install the flash plugin, even if I had to do it every time I used the pc.

It's possible I could do both QT and Flash versions but the problem with that is server space. I'm already running out of space, and with many more vids planned it'd be a big overhead to keep two copies.

We've actually had many more hits to the vids since doing them in Flash coz I used to get lots of people complaining that they couldn't use QT at work!

At work never used to be able to see stuff in QT and Real cuz i wasn't authorized to install them, but strangley it always let me install Flash and shockwave, so i was OK for flash vids. Since then i got administrator rights on my machine, so I can see everything. I like the pr0n music over Jerry's Traverse, seems to suit DT quite well.

pr0n music? That's club classic Flowerz by a man like Armand Van Helden. I remember him dropping it and mixing it up with a bootleg version down the front of a sweaty Bugged Out a few years back.....what a night  :D

Respect to the man for playing a bootleg of his own record too.

Know what you mean though - I like Slackjaws description of Dave as the "wine-bar svengali" - arf! You know you're a dirty old perv DT !

My problem with the flash movies is they require flash 6, and us Linux users are stuck with crappy old flash 5 until someone who knows what they're doing sorts it out.   :(

So fuck that shit (can we still swear)?

Serves you right for using Linux you geek  :D

Seriously, I'm looking into a tool which generates backwards compatible Flash movies (certainly to v5 anyway). Might help. I'll post here if it works.

Surely it won't be long before there's a current Linux version of Flash?!

But I have read about a Linux Flash 6 player that's in beta, so won't be long.

Hmmmm....ok, I admit to being a bit lazy in the Flash detection department....has the laptop got the latest, super-spangly-dangly Flash 6 player???  Won't work otherwise. I should really write some code that tells you that but I'm a lazy cunt and am busy chomping through some pies whilst furiously masturbating. Underground is in the corner banging my cat, the sick fuck.

Anyway, here's the link:
