I also have vague memories of a very young youth asking for a top-rope to be put up on Consenting. Maybe Whispering Nic has a better memory as I'm sure he was there that day as well.

Sounds familiar, thought the youth wanted to get on 7th Ardvark though. Who were the Shuffield fannys in the Listers who told us we needed a couple of years to climb 7c?

No idea  . They did come across as  , but they may well have been ok... I guess it was the scene on the catwalk at the time. It's much more chilled nowadays.

You are correct Graeme - high up in DFES these days - she is now living with my best (non-climbing) mate and has been for at least a couple of years and seems very happy with life. As for the mandarins - yes they would be shocked.....

sam townsend - we used to climb at manchester uni back in the early 90's with Gav, Mackam Tony, Big James and Irish Vince. I remember stopping at your folks place in Hope for supper on many occasion..... you still climbing???
