School Rings
November 08, 2006, 10:34:51 am
Hi Schoolies,
Have just installed some proper gymnastic rings at the school. Well, they're on the floor. I put them where the old ones are, but storing them on top will lead to them becoming so dirty as to be unusable. Will get a stuff sack to store them in up there. Anyway, get on them. and watch those rotator cuffs...

What nights are you schooling at the mo herr currywurst? Have been building up my basic level at the Foundry but reckon I might be ripe for some schoolage now. But unlike your good self I can never get motivated to pull down if i'm there on my tod.

aye, they're on top buried in 3 inches of dust. more than happy to fish them down and leave them somewhere more accessible...

Joe yours are an improvement on mine which are metal and v.heavy. Plus, yours arent sewn onto the tape and are easier to set up. Good spot.

Where did you get your rings -
can't remember, maybe ringtraing.com i put gymnastic rings into google and went from there. They're from the states, cost about $85 including postage and come with the straps.

I'm not surprised your logs are past the training stage if you're a regular on ringtraining.com!

I can do a muscle up, but a handstand would be harder!

what the hell's a muscle up? sounds all rather homo-erotic to me... i'm excited. will have to arrange a sesh up there with you Herr Grunten-Waffen, so you can show me some good exercises.

climbing beneficial exercises on rings are,
dips.
for added pleasure do them in a pike position... 3sets of 10 - 15.
front levers.
if you can do front lever try lowering from an inverted position[the candle stick]. concentrate on keeping head/body legs in line. these are sick hard, you will see stars....long recovery required. try to do 5 attempts.
if you are stupid strong, try to return into candle stick with out bending in the middle. and rest in candle stick position
scissors.
muscle up/jump up into seated pike position. lock out arms and spread your legs in a scissor motion. abduct/adduct. go for 15 secs. rest in pike for 15 secs and repeat again. 1 min total. rest for 3 - 5 mins repeat twice more. [3 sets].
the candle stick.
good for core strength. hang upside down in 1 plane. point toes.
for added bonus lower legs into inverted pike then back up to vertical plane. always keeping torso and head in line. harder than it seems... 3sets of 15.if this is hard. try lowering alternate legs
or candlestick for 3 x 30 secs.
let me know how you get on.
ps try dips with palms facing in to body/ thumbs forward.
and then palms facing backwards. [sand bag!!!]
enjoy, you strong bastards..

I started taking Glucosamine Sulphate with Chondroitin 6 weeks ago because my finger joints ached... joints are fine now but I pulled a tendon in my right hand last wednesday (First time ever)
