Cheers both! It's very chossy in places (as highlighted in the post-reel outtake) but it is a lovely quiet place. Plenty of interesting bird life too.

Lovely. Lived there for 6 years up to 2005 and it made me really miss the place. Suspect some of those blocs have been unearthed/fallen there since then! Used to wander down there from tanybwlch.

Cheers Tom! It really is a wonderful place. My better half lives up there, so I have lots of excuses to get back there when things are a bit more normal.

One of the good things about the Wen is that it gets a reset after every storm

Niche!!! An hour long documentary on Pennsylvanian bouldering. The state is completely unknown when it comes to climbing but as the film shows it's packed with a huge variety of great looking venues. I'm pissed off with myself that I did virtually nothing to take advantage of it while I lived there (though I never managed to meet another climber and a lot of the best areas are hours from where I lived). It looks like exactly the kind of thing I like: backwater venues hidden in the woods, interesting local scenes. Also, it really is a beautiful state.

That neither looks like a summer project, nor a summer beard. Good effort on both.

It's a handy nearby crag for me, just 7min drive from home. So not a bad place for a lockdown project. The fan made it climbable in summer, if not ideal - I very nearly did it, just dropped the finish (the bit I thought I wouldn't drop! Changed the sequence after that).

But after about 10 sessions I decided I needed to do something else and come back in winter. I'd just come off an even longer siege and my siege psyche had run out. And yeah, it was easier in the cold.

Legwarmers are brilliant. I hate the cold, have to use all the tricks.

The temps definitely helped, though with a fan it's perfectly possible in summer. Maybe even in winter I wouldn't have done it without a fan. My hands were too hot, I just couldn't stick to the holds until I used it to cool my skin.

I made sure to film the ascent in one take as well. And it's all natural light. 😆

Well spotted, that's what makes it so wierd! I've been calling it a dropknee toehook, though I quite like air Egyptian. There is something small there to hook. Opposition between that and the Rh sloper slap is what keeps you on. It's hard to place as the right foot is on a marginal smear, so you are basically dangling on slopers whilst trying to fiddle it into position. Very finicky.and very unusual. I tried all sorts but couldn't make anything else work.

Thought this was ace, good to see some psyched locals and developers, good scenes, innovative landings, and some awesome rock! That diabase looks right up my street!
