Cheers guys. The places have partly been dictated by the weather - Matlock area and Brimham area have both been in the rainshadow of the Pennines and offered a bit of shelter since almost all the dry days have been "blowy as fook man". West Nab was my favourite discovery of this season, the rock there is surprisingly compact fine-grained and elegant.

Nice videos Fiend. West Nab is a great little venue. In particular I thought Archery was a great problem.

It was a light rap on the knuckles, and partly defending Offwidth's honour!

Alex and Jamie, cheers. I did Archery as a last minute dash out after going to a gabber club in liverpool the night before. Staggered across the heather and tussocks in a howling gale having to tack against the wind, expecting the whole thing to be dismal. Popped around the edge of a boulder to find this amazing line with just enough shelter from the breeze....was super psyched.

P.S. The difference is that *my* downgrades are scientifically accurate and correct (and not reach issues). And stuff that is right at my flashing / working limit as applicable.

With Treebeard, did you work it from the lip of the roof and then link in from the roof? I'm sure the roof moves are easy, but I can imagine them draining you just a little and making the main bit a little harder to get to grips with? But then I can imagine cracking the arete and not wanting to do it again or wishing you'd just done it from the start.

Also, no need to tie down your spotter at all? I've never actually tried or spotted Treebeard so not really sure how wide the platform is there, but on Black Annis you're cutting it pretty fine with the landing zone.

One thing I would say is I didn't have time to read most of the captions. Slow reader? Or maybe leave them up for a little longer.

Will you definitely don't need a tied in spotter for Treebeard.

Will, I did the arete on a rope, then just went from the bottom (other than a few warm up pulls from the lip). Personally there's no way I'd have done lip to top and called it a day, the roof section is awesome and adds quality to the overall problem, as well as a bit of difficulty as the moves are long and they definitely tire you a little, especially core.

I also can't actually reach the lip from the deck, have to stand on a couple of pads or one folded, so it feels in no way contrived to start lower; in fact the opposite would be true.

We didn't tie in to spot but it'd be safer if you did. Olly took some pretty hefty falls but always landed on the pads, so just a case of making sure he didn't then slide too far.
