That vid is totally overexposed, can you not adjust anything on your camera.

Good send though, surprised it wasn't a complete grease fest if you did it recently.

Good change of shots - especially the end wide one. However no dog footage (this years driving to the crag shot) means its log ;)

yeah i tried to fiddle around with brightness/ contrasts in vegas but to no avail, havent looked at the camera, its not really fancy enough to warrant it as far as i know...

but yeah when i got down i didnt think it would be climbable but it was alright with the judicious use of chalk   :2thumbsup:

A video of a few problems at Ogmore By Sea in South Wales. Lovely little area, well worth a days visit. Some big lines in the trench, and probably some hard stuff left to be done.

Pretty pleased with this one - the soundtrack, my climbing, and a good day out in a great location:

Nice work, some nice looking blocs those, walked passed them on the way out from a long walk and thought that they looked worth a visit

Aye the climbing is good, there's lots of easy stuff scattered around, and some potential although not quite as much as the amount of rock would suggest!

It can be very hard to tell whether a return visit is worthwhile, but if there is a good volume of easy stuff then it's definitely a good shout  :2thumbsup:

When you first look around in a new area at the volume of rock it's easy to get carried away thinking it's going to be amazing (like the granite in D&G forest) only to be crushed after several days of looking at either shrinking-boulders or friable rock. The incredible-shrinking boulder is my least favourite phenomenon

Mine too, especially when spotted from a looong way away.

D&G made me feel a bit like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football

ok this boulder turned out to be tiny and my shins are now bleeding from the bear-traps formed by fallen trees, but look at the one on the other side of the valley next to that big tree, trudge, trudge, trudge,............., it's a bloody shrub, but wait a minute what about that other..................

It's amazing how long you can go on like that

I hear you. Try ooh look there's a boulder down there at the bottom of that cliff I must have a look when the tide is out once I figure out how to get down there, come back a week later whe the tide is right, carrying a large pad plus brushes, paint scrapers etc, work out approach along coast, boulder hop forever, reach boulder find it high enough but no decent bits for climbing / has death landing not even a stack of pads can save you from / permawet / shite rock / covered in sealife / just plain shite.

To be honest both of those situations seem to happen when you are trying to climb at the established boulders in those respective areas  :P

You've definitely got me there

My D&G experience was similar to my experience in rocklands on the first day with no topo (I can be a bit stupid at times), just trudging (through the heat mind, it was January, rather than rough soggy scottish terrain) to find boulders with either no holds at all, or too many giant holds (for giant read "home to something furry, nasty, bitey, or a combination of the lot) to be sporting.

Didn't realise that there was any climbing at the campground, so spent about six hours wandering around trying to find the "roadside" sector. Printed out topo the next day  :chair:

Very true. But it's worth it for that one time in a hundred when this happens:

Two psyched climbers in a car, repeating a common conversation...

Me - I've not been in this valley before. Bet there's something decent hidden away.
Him - Must be. You look out of that window, I'll look out of this one.
Me - Try not to crash. I can't see much, the hills are too steep.
Him - Maybe there's something at the top of one of these hills.
Me - That would be amazing, but very unlikely. Shall we have a look?

Brakes applied. Screech to stop. Jump fence.

Trudge, trudge, trudge. Stop and gasp for breath. More steep trudging.

Him - You know that tiny bit of rock that looked like nothing? I think it's the top of something.
Me - Is that a...?
Him - Cave!
Me - Flippin 'eck, what are the chances?

 :agree:

I did find one boulder that grew and that made it all worthwhile. Weirdly, it was closer and bigger than it looked.

Indeed. However the reverse is even more frustrating - Walking along cliff edge, "hmm look a path down to the beach with some potentially interesting looking (but probably shite) boulders, wonder if there's anything else down there, must go look sometime..........."

1 year later - mates - "hey, we've found a really cool bouldering cave, 10 mins walk from your house!"

Still at least someone found it!
