I reckon when that arete goes, it will be as a highball.

Yeah I agree. Not a great landing though!

It's not been done as it's not that easy - harder than 6c anyway. Lots of Sheffield's climbers' (and others) have tried it over the years. It also doesn't climb that brilliantly once you actually get on it in my opinion. Lawrencefield wall is a far better project to fall I reckon.

I thought it climbed quite nicely up to the gear, if it had continued in that vein it would have made a nice E5-ish I think. However instead it gets very blank and requires a pretty big dynamic move to a hard to hang hold. I wouldn't have said it was harder than 6c, but I guess dynamic moves are quite hard to grade. The landing is not great but with if someone could be bothered to drag a cartload of mats round there then it would go as a pretty safe but spicy highball, probably at a surprisingly modest grade.
The Lawrencefield project is a completely different order of difficulty, IMHO it will certainly be breaking into new grades on grit when that goes, very very difficult. Not surprisingly, given this, it is a "better project" simply because it will be groundbreaking, rather than regionally significant. That's not to suggest the Millstone arete is unworthy.

Yeah, I think you're right. I surprised with your arete, slab and vert wall skills you never got either done??!!

Get away from those obscure quarries and get 'em done!  :)

If I'd stayed in the area I probably would have done the Millstone arete, the Lawrencefiled wall is something else, the idea of linking all the moves on that is some way above a level that I've ever operated at. Anyway I'm a boulderer nowadays, the most adventurous I get is occassional forays into sport climbing :)

A day at Langdale.  The Crack felt awful, maybe it's my fat fingers, but it just caused intolerable pain and skin loss.  The other problems in the vid were very pleasant in comparison.  The reason I arsed up the first top-out is the lack of crimpablity in my right hand.  Honest  ???

Nice.  The 6a mantle and the bit at the end were my favourite

Them wellies have better rubber than 5.10 Stealth, it's just she forgot to squeak 'em before the crush.

The sitter's way too hard so did the In Bloom link up to add a good start to the dyno, takes in the crux of In Bloom then finishes up the dyno.

Probably making sure all the buckfast drinking youths that were in the cave behind us weren't going to swipe the camera  :P

It's old now but I never posted this one at the time. A good day out when it's too hot to crush!
