no one mention the location

Not much point as it would come out as Crag SFDSKHG anyway!

You're getting pretty nifty with Adobe (or whatever you're using).  Good stuff, but I'm not sure about the border?  I look forward to more vids.

I have nothing to do with the border! It comes out that way.... I've just got premier elements 3 which should make life easier. Not used it yet, but it looks much easier to use, and produce better results....

Off to Wales now for 3 days so should have some good stuff on my return!

Apologies as this ain't quite a bouldering vid but more of a day out. Would have put it in the chuffing forum but didnt think it merited a thread of its own. Its my first attempt at making a video so feedback is more than welcome. Be as nice as you can though  :)

I want my 3:23 back  :'(

Feedback:
Do more climbing in it.
Stop wobbling the camera, it makes people ill.
Some titles are too quick to read.
Transitions, transitions.
The quality is awful, anything you can do about it?
Safe overtaking is important.

Thanks for your feedback.
Things I learnt from my video:
1. Dont bother filming in the first place if you haven got a third man to film. Belaying and keeping a steady camera at the same time is hard.
2. Use climbing partner's girlfriends proper camcorder next time instead of the cybershot P-200 video function.
3. Learn to use video editing software properly.
4. Shout at climbing partner for his daft driving louder and more often.

Inspired by Adam Lincoln (borders) and Will Hunt (crap video), here's some bouldering in   Nothing good I'm afraid:  The Prow (V1), Maizie Gunn's Magic Midgie Cream (V4), a miserable effort on Hamish (V6) and Midnight in a Perfect World (V7).

We've tried some different stuff here (tripod as short boom, dual images) so any thoughts would be good.

Still not quite sure what you mean by borders....? The black bit round the video? Mine does it as standard....

Yeah, those things.  This has a border as I ripped it back from DVD (forgot the backup) witht the wrong settings and was too lazy to re-do it.

Having a border isn't usually standard, it depends which output settings you use.  Wasn't a criticism mind!

Ahhh ok.... Think they look ok.

Just got back from Wales, so loads of footage should be going on youtube tomorrow!  Stuff to look forward too. Mr Fantastic, Trigger Cut, and Halfway House.

Been using elements 3 for this batch, so should be some better results.

I did the Maizie thing the other week, its good - seem i went a bit more direct to the nose than in your vid. also did the eliminate V7 on the right - shite. and what about the alleged V8 up the middle of that roof? looks like so o's pie in the sky to me. V8 going on 8a?

Dunno, we were only there for 2 hours.  Had a brief look at The Morrighan (Font 8a+) and the Morrighan Direct (Font 8b).  Look interesting.  Minute crimps and steeper than the rent on a Chelsea flat.
Maybe you did the original Maizie at font 7b?  There was/is a vid on Stone Country somewhere of Maizie but I can't find it now.  SOrry.
It was Tom's stag so I was hung over and tired from running up hills for the previous 2 days. Honest  :-[

Dave:  I know it's bollox, and I'm surprised it's still online.  Even the Ballard guide has tons of 8s in the Glen  :-\

Adam:  Excellent vid.  Only suggestion would be a smoother transition between the two parts of Mr. Fantastic.  I usually do a cut like that when I've fallen off something, so I try to disguise it.  Better without the border too

yo lincoln that vid will look 100% better if you ditch the fan/clockwise wipe transition. looks well non-plus. theres a reason josh lowell and ben pritchard don't use em!

Thanks Dave,

Yeah can't seem to get my head round not having a transition.... i feel as many do, the time has come to ditch them though.

So just a plain run into the next part of the reel?

Sold.....

try just a normal fade from one shot to the next, or no effect at all maybe.

Personally I find no transition a bit sudden.  A very short fade (even 6 frames) smooths it nicely and makes it easy on the eye.
Wipes look like turds though.

the clock wipe transition is good to portray the passing of time IMO, i think i have seen Mr Lowell use it before in some of his earlier work. Good work Adam.
