Almscliff, any time soon
October 09, 2006, 02:13:05 am
Damn, I'm itching to get back to the 'cliff again. I'm so close to getting Dreamtime now!

Anybody going from Leeds any time soon? I'd appreciate a lift greatly, and will buy pints (but not if you're driving...)

Out of everyone I've met, I am the only person who has got the train to almscliff - and definitely wouldn't reccomend it. All the student climbers I know have cars

in my youth got the train to almsclif - getting off at weeton - walking up. unfortunately got there on a dayrover from bingley - which was valid up to the stop before weeton. was ok on the way out - but a bit of a bugger trying to get back.

Yup training it to Almscliffe from the Headingley, Hyde Park, usual student gaff residences is a nightmare. Why not befriend some of those attending a relevant uni society? You'd be surprised at just how many students have cars in uni. Having said that, there's a lot of daddy's boys and girls in Leeds!
Failing that, continue to get the X84 and get to know Caley over those 3 years like the back of your hand.

Anybody in leeds without a car that wants to boulder at almscliff instead of caley is quite mad.
Caley is one of the best venues in the country, shame its green and slow to dry  :-\

Yeah, Almscliff dries in half an hour, Caley dries in half a year, hence choosing Almscliff with the weather like it is now, i.e. showers.
