i remeber a thread about bristol bouldering not so long ago but can't find it, could anyone just tell me how to find gollums cave and if there's anything else of interest in the avon gorge

Your best bet might be to email T.H. via his profile on this site, as he knows the area really well. Ian Hill is also registered but we haven't seen him on here for ages....and there's always Bathford of course, which is probably a much more pleasant place the the Cave.

Well, I might well be - I've only been to Bathford which is quite an nice place, but everyone tells me that Gollum's Cave is a bit of a shithole, especially after the fire.
