This. 2/3 Tarantino, 1/3 high school teenage angst film with more swearing and better dialogue. Didn't really know what to expect nor how it could actually be a half decent film, but it was great fun, just well done and very entertaining. Perfect example of a Daily Mail "No stars moral outrage decline of society" film that does just that, in a good way. The little girl is ace, as is the boss.

Watched Michael Clayton last week. It's really very good, well written, rather understated and very nicely shot.

Thought it was a stock performance from Nicolas Cage actually.

Me too. That Mail spew is the cinema review version of Craggs' "Dire at every level" post.

Unfortunately the review doesn't entirely hit the mark. The casual glorification of underage violence and swearing is spot on, but there really aren't ANY sexual overtones whatsoever in the wee heroine's performance. Which is a good thing in a good film, I feel - she is cool as a cheery but down-to-earth 11yr old psychopath casually slaughtering people with foul-mouthed glee* rather than a misplaced object of lust.

* obviously I can see how this might be a role model for some, well, one UKB viewer

Sounds like what my eldest daughter is heading towards - except that she wants to be a gothy punk rock country star at the same time.

The best thing about Tarantino, is that the slimey worm will be dead within a generation.

Dreadful evening here, trying to find one film that will hold the imagination for longer than 30 minutes; many failures not necessary to list ...

Finding LEGION pretty good though, really fine pensioner goes whack and writhes around the ceiling, lubricated in PURE EVIL-moment, very Exorcist.  Recommended.

Ah, Houdini. while you're online you may be able to help (though it could be a long shot)... watched a good looking film (entirely in German) last night (in Wien at the moment) and it was about a prisoner who was let out of Dachau (for some reason) to go back to his native luxembourg and there some SS tried to get him to do something which he wouldnt.. the main characters name was Kramer... any ideas? Would like to find a subtitled version upon return to blighty...

Surrogates.

w/ Bruce Willis (don't let that stop you, it's a cool premise for a film).

Four Lions is very good. Relentlessly funny as you might expect, but surprisingly inoffensive. Almost all is set and filmed in Sheffield, even the bits that are supposed to be in London. Recommend you watch it at Meadowhall to get the full effect from the opening shot.

Watched The Damn United last night. Good little film that really captures the madness / genius of Clough. Great cast and the football scenes (which usually ruin these type of films) were actually pretty well done.
