Fucking teen romance bollox... All polished young things with smouldering looks and no real blood and gore and trauma...

Gosh errr. Classic if weird cyberpunk meets overrated flashy nonsense meets hilarious gore meets a genuinely freak horror movie.

;D I'd just about go with that. Possibly with the addition of "entertaining in a trashy sort of way" to "overrated flashy nonsense" Its hardly classic, clever or really that memorable, but fun to watch like a good pub fight. Maybe you get enough of that in Glasgow anyway.

If its blood and gore you like daybreakers is for you. Its all over the walls, faces, being drunk, riots, decapitation .... Sam Neill's character's fate is a superb exercise in the 'lets see how nasty we can make it for the bad guy at the end' vein.

Just saw Chavatar. I thought it was pretty awesome in it's genre. It promises a cheesy soppy sci-fi spectacle and woe betide you if you expect anything else because it delivers pretty much the pinnacle of that in cinema so far. Basically lots of fancy shit, laid over an entirely generic story - you can't polish a turd but if you gild it enough you can make it look pretty damn cool.

I saw it in 3D at Imax which obviously means I got the full benefit of that fancy shit.

And yes I would bang the princess woman, and yes I want a hammer head rhinocerous.

Watched The Hurt Locker last week. Really very good. Nicely shot, good acting, and a darker insight into a unsavoury war.

Saw something which I haven't seen for a long time yesterday. A decent new film. Went to the flix to watch Un Prophete. Very gritty, very gruesome (but it wasn't mindless, like Tarantino), in fact, somewhat like a French "This is Britain".

9/10

It's very good. I'd recommend you pay attention to people's names, as (I was a bit tired so) I got a little bit lost about who was who, and how they related to the story.

Saw Un Prophet last Wednesday as planned.  Good film, interesting story, thought it dragged itself out a bit towards the end.

(Barely) watched Awake on Saturday. Very slow to start with, got a bit more interesting towards the end.  I wouldn't bother going out of your way to see it though.

The Road - a perfect feel-good movie for a first date...  :-\

I think if I hadn't read the book I'd be pretty shell-shocked by this. Does it exactly what it says on the tin, an atmospheric and accurate translation of a bleak and gripping book, with only a few minor deviancies. Even having read the book, I still thought it was great, really well done. I found the book bleak, but the film more sad than bleak, there's a few scenes where if I hadn't been a big fat strong weak climber punter I'd have shed a few tears. Pretty serious stuff.

Invictus -  you know this is going to get a good review because its directed by the coolest man who has ever lived, well worth going to see though if i could change one thing it would be the musical score.

Sherlock Holmes is pretty good, but not as good as L'ennemi public n°1 and L'instinct de mort. Two gangster films about the life of France's most notorious criminal Jacques Mesrine.
Apprécier

Thought you'd enjoy it Eddies, if only to watch the awesome figure that is a Gerard Depardieu playing a fat, small time Godfather figure - genius! One of the best films of the year for me.
