Most blatant product placements I have ever seen in a film too.

I thought iRobot had the most comical product placement ever, but Iron Mans not far behind.

I didn't think there was anything to trump Casino Royale:

"Rolex?"
"No, Omega"

Thought the film was good overall - the first two thirds are great, especially the first third, but it gets lost towards the end, and was pretty weak on the baddie front.

yeah having the big lebowski coming after you in a tin suit just doesn't seem that threatening

For those who like a bit of British gangster nastiness then Rise Of The Footsoldier is well worth a watch. Very funny in places, very nasty in others and generally kept my interest throughout.

I've been watching many, many films in the last few months but this one is worth a mention; The Edge of Heaven. It's a Turkish/German film which has all the elements of a great film. It's well shot, well cast, well directed, touches on emotions that all humans can empathise with, and doesn't push too hard for meaning or conclusion. It deals with the fragility of life and the raw feelings that everybody has at certain times of their lives. Sadness is prevalent, but hope is the ocean around it. I thought it was really good, and it seems the folks at imdb agree, where it gets an 8.1.

So, check it out! If you're a pirate then seek the release by AEN.

3:10 from Yuma.

A western w/ loads of brilliant actors . . .     Alas it's wank and plays second fiddle to so many westerns of the last 6 months.  The bad bits spoil the good bits so comprehensively, so derivatively, that I refuse to list them.  A slur on the genre (but what do you expect w/ R. Crowe?  Shakespeare?!)

Best film seen this year. Believe it's a series also.

"I think I can hear a Police Helicocksucker"

We own the night. Just seen this, and very watchable. 4/5. Set in New York, a story of loyalties in a drug world.

I haven't had a chance to get down to the cinema recently cause of the good weather, but this review from the Guardian made me giggle.

Roth groin area ambiguous. Groin area look lumpy. Bumpy. Perhaps odd penis. Perhaps odd trousers. Critic ... not sure.

OMFG

saw Cloverfield last night.

didnt know anything about it, just the 5 star Empire rating....

Totally superb piece of origional cinema. How the producer of Lost was given such a blank canvas and such resource is a massive leap of faith by the finance behind the film....

He delivers. Big time.

See this film.

Basic problem ... critic not believe Hulk angry. Hulk just roar. It not look convincing. Not truly seem angry. Critic think about this. Critic decide why. It because Hulk not swear. Hulk just say: "Hulk. Smash" etc. If Hulk shout C-word ... different matter. Then Hulk look angry. Sound angry. Not here. Hulk genteel.

Had a day at the cinema yesterday to keep up with the new releases... saw The Hulk and The Happening.

The Hulk isn't terrible, but there wasn't anywhere near enough tank-throwing for me. The green guy does have mad buildering skills though.

I was really looking forward to The Happening but it didn't pay off for me.

OMFG

saw Cloverfield last night.

I thought it was technically very clever but started rooting for the monster in about minute 2 or 3.

Must have had an impact... I found myself walking out of HMV yesterday with the 2 disc 'extended features' box set. :-\

Watched Into The Wild last night. Definitely not a light film and probably one of the most moving films I've seen.

Agreed on "Into the Wild". Powerful stuff

Watched Kidulthood on the telly last night. Very good. Typically gritty for a British Film. Seemed like a more modern version of "This is England". The trials and tribulations of... well kidulthood.

watched the hulk the other night and though i was fairly impressed i think it was let down by the lack or arse kicking. the action never really reaches the intensity that it should do when two massive bastards are beating the shit out of one another. roth is good though i like him fine actor norton is excellent but i didn't need to tell you that

also went to see indiana jones more because i felt i had to after seeing the other three. its shit i hate all of the indiana jones films too much fucking trumpet music

true.

on another note. do not watch "paranoid park". what a pile of shit. rubbish. i feel so ripped off. its about a skate boarding kid who kills someone, and there isnt even any good skateboarding in it, or acting come to think of it, or direction or anything else that a good film has. fucking crap it was!
