First chuff of the year

Got out to Meikel Partans on Sunday, started out in glorious sunshine, at 11 am, climbing in thin fleece. 3 routes later it was raining, but not a bad start to the year, considering it's mid feb. In NE scotland. Felt wierd placing gear again, and calves ache from standing around too long on small holds.

Got out to Malham 2 weekends ago and was very surprised at how well I was going. Did the usual warm-ups, then jumped on Connect 4, a route I'd done about 9 years ago. Managed to do all the moves in a couple of goes and got some long links on it, so my fitness must be better than I thought.

Either that or the lack of ciggies is working....

Nice one Chris and Andy.

I did my first chuff a few weekends ago at Bamford, after having a couple of grumpy weeks not climbing, and then doing some bouldering to get back into it. I had a really fun time, it was nice to get a few routes under my belt, and although I wasn't pushing very hard, I felt comfortable with what I was doing which was nice.

Was back at Malham on Sunday, couln't believe how dry the place was   . Even the pocket at the start of Raindogs was bone, and that seeps like a seepy thing. If the weather stay's dry then virtually the whole crag will be dry by next weekend.

Just back from a week on the costa blanca! Interesting how small amount of stamina training can reap dividens. Did load of stuff at mainly places ive never been to before, Bellus/ Alacalali/ Pena roja/ L'Ociave and a session in the rain at Gandia. Forgot what a great crag gandia is, topped out some overhung stamina horror and was so detirmined to flash it that i climbed 20ft of prob hvs limestone slab that was running with water
Also did a 44mtr route, I was on it longer than some bouldering sessions last!

ah, was out there myself the week before (so that's what you meant when you said you were going to the Costa Blanca the week after me!). So Brilliant, perfect weather. When there did one of the most amazing routes i have ever done (and I didn't even do it). The Magic Flute on Bernia Ridge, your basic, perfect tufa up an overhanging wall with no other features. Mind blowing stuff, beautiful setting overlooking Calpe. Myself and mark Sharratt and Andi Turner all had an epiphany on it, then drifted dreamily down through pillows of pink and white almond blossoms towards the sunset. Wow.

Meanwhile, back in Blighty...
