Creating animation/movies from JPEG sequence
February 06, 2006, 11:03:19 pm
I've got a series of photos that i want to create an animation from. I don't want to do it as an animated gif because I'll lose colours and quality. Any other ways of doing it? I don't really have any idea what i'm doing so please be explicit with instructions.

Cheers.

I suppose it depends upon how many images you have, what size they are and what you want to do with the end result?

I think you can create Flash movies from jpegs - aside from that Im not too sure. Im sure theres plenty of cats on here that can give you more info

Am afraid my animation skill is limited to one crappy program I got as an extra with Paintshop.
You shouldn't loose much image quality with an animated gif if the optimisation is set high enough. The main issue would be the amount of memory it would take to animated un-resized images. This would make the sinished thing too hefty to use as a link on the net.

Yeah, what's it for - web? desktop? presentation? screensaver?

ps Ulead Gif Animator is supposed to be the best thing for producing animated gifs.

I want to do it for the web, and one just for me to have (ie. decent quality). I've got about 20 shots that i want to animate. I'll have a look around for this gif animator, but I thought that gif's were really limited to 256 colours or something? Obviously I need atleast 16million colours because i utilise each shade in all my photos... I just want it to look good to be honest!

This is a gif. The colour looks little/no different to the original jpeg (it was a shit photo to start with).

So i finally got it working, via photoshop, and ulead gif animator. However, I'm left with a 6mb file, so prob a little big to post on here just for the sake of showing you my creation... If I create a smaller one I'll put it up...

anyway, thanks for the help

to make the file smaller - resave all your jpegs to a lower quality
file>save as>......
then redo your giffage.
