My local council puts on a great firework display every year, which I always appreciate. It lasts about 20 minutes but there's a part of me that wishes they'd just set the whole caboodle off in one big fuck off explosion. This is probably the same part of me that thinks Dinosaur Jr can't be too loud.

It was a special year though as the Silver Jubilee Bridge’s 50th Birthday was also being celebrated. 5p bets the 2014 celebration of the opening of the new bridge will get the large bang you wish for.

I think they do it in the evenings at certain times of the year. A can remember seeing footage on telly of similar over a large city, possibly Barcelona.

For anyone heading up or down the M6/M74. If you stop at the Gretna services just into Scotland at dusk at the right time of year (now?) you get some amazing starling displays.

I have thought that there are more starlings in Sheffield city centre this year - nothing like what it used to be like, but more than recent years
