I was checking out the cool instrument that Little Boots has on stage (a Yamaha Tenori-on) and found this which demonstrates it rather well and is also a great cover. I really rate her, she can sing and writes catchy tunes.

I don't get the hype at all. She was on Radio 1 the other day and her voice is like a very poor, weak imitation of Sarah Cracknell's. Plus that "Remedy" song is the sort of vapid Europop that if done by Cascada (or perhaps The Venga Boys) would be ignored or ridiculed by the same smug cunts in the music press who are lauding her as the next big thing. It all seems a bit emperor's new clothes to me especially when there is a lot of genuine female musical talent about at the moment (Florence, Ladyhawke, Bat For Lashes etc).

To be fair I said 'she can sing' not she has the best voice ever. I'm not comparing her to any of those artists, all of which I own albums from and rate probably higher than little Boots. However there is always a place for catchy pop. Little Boots reminds me of Kylie about ten years ago in her coolier years. Just because I own everything PJ Harvey and Kristin Hersh have done doesn't mean I don't enjoy listening to All Saints and the odd Girls Aloud single.
