French Alps

Seems like there's a fair bit to do in the French alps, what with Ailefroide (which has a bouldering meet next weekend), Medonnet and various other Chamonix things.

Also found a place called tralenta on petzl.com: http://www.petzl.com/petzl/frontoffice/Sport/static/explorations/tralenta/index_EN.htm

And some more info on ailefroide:

Argentiere la besse which is the nearest town. Probably reached via Briancon the nearest city.
-In the village are gear and food shops. Also, a few bars which sell food (steak and frites 10 euros) and expensive beer. There is a bureau de guides and post services.
-you can buy a boulder topo there and can hire pads for about 5 euros. theres no cashpoint in the village.
-the nearest town is Vallouise some 10 km down the valley (good campsite, shops, market, etc). The AC club is mostly a guide to the alpine routes, if you plan to only climb/boulder around the village get the local french topo

Tralenta is quite a way south in the Alps, not far from the ski resort of Les Arcs. Apparently pretty high up, so a good spot to escape the heat. Do not Confuse Bonneval-sur-Arc with Bonneville, like I did.
