Lakes bouldering massive
June 10, 2005, 11:07:16 am
Going up to Penrith this weekend for a friends party and also to celebrate my not dead yet day (by climbing and showing how fucking stubborn I am  )

I've downloaded a shit load of topo's from Gregs site and am well psyched to steal his projects

Is anyone about on Sunday or will I have to go around to Fingers house and talk about dieting?

D

Cheers guy's :)

I think Sunday is going to be the day I'm out.  It might have to be a trip to the langdale boulders as I'm not sure how much time we have.  I'd love to go back to the Bowderstone but I'm not sure that the missus would approve :(

Go to Carrock it's only 10 minutes from Penrith and ten fold better than Langdale.

If you get to Carrock Fell, have a go at the Purple Slab Project (link the sit start of the central slab problem into TC's Arete. Open season on it now.

Only managed a couple of hours on the Sat as I had a party to attend

Took fingers advise and ended up Carrock Fell.  I was a bit disappointed when I drove past in the car, but up close the problems are much better that they look at the Gabbro is awesome.  I also enjoyed the soft touch V8's and believe its a good thing that Ru hasn't made a downgrading visit.

On the Sunday (not dead yet day) I went back to where it all began Brownstones and repeated that new sit start thing.  Boy that place brought back some memories  :D

What time were you there Dylan? Me and ma m8t were knocking around that afternoon at CF, between 3 and 5 i think, seen a load of old guys trying some stuff on the top boulder, although I doubt it was you.

You can't have done any of Hocking's new "V8's" then!

Care to tell us what you thought was overgraded and what grade you thought they/it should have been?

Nah fingers I was down in the morning with 2 young ladies ;)

Sorry Greg didn't mean to start a grading war.  I did this that slopey shelf thing was soft, think it was called ye of little faith.  The V7 crack to the left felt harder, though on the nose for the grade.  I only got chance to climb the stuff on the Northern group though I did do most of them.

Remind me to stay away from the Hock's 8's

How hard did you reckon it was Dylan?

I'm not sure that the sit-down adds that much to the grade as the first move is the only extra hard bit.  Saying that its a nice addition to Brownstones, probably V7/8 from a sitter.  I did have a look at the top out but its needs a bit of a clean, so get to it boys!

Yeah that's what Jordan thought. Paul R thought it was harder, but he didn't use a mat and like you say, the move off the ground is the hard bit. Of course, most people are going to use a mat, so V7/8 is what's going in the guide.

Hmm, it's quite high up, is that. Not sure topping out is on my list of things to do, so I'll leave it to someone else to clean... Probably deserves an E-grade?

Did you look at any of the projects on the back wall by any chance?
