Finger injury
May 12, 2005, 03:34:46 pm
I wacked the back of my hand against a hold on my woody a few days ago and am trying to work out what damage I may have done.

I have indentified my middle finger as the injured one. If I bend the finger e.g to do up a button or open a tube of toothpaste I get a sharp pain down just above the knuckle on the back/side of the finger.

If I move the finger with it straight (currently in a splint) then there is no pain, so I know the knuckle joint is alright.

I have come up with 3 options

Bruised bone- optimistic!
minor fracture-not too bad I guess
pully/ligament/tendon damage- not good! But can these really be damaged by an impact to the top of the hand.

Any/all opinions welcome

I can tell you for a fact that you've not bruised your bone.  The pain could be summat like a hairline fracture or from the swelling (if there is any) around where you've wacked it.  I wouldn't worry about it just tape it up and take some ibuprofen

Had a session on Wednesday night- all seems fine- still some general ache , but nothing that going to stop me training.

Guess I am a hypercondriact.
